Lipids are naturally occurring fats stored in your blood and tissues that can accumulate over time, potentially obstructing blood flow and increasing your chances of heart disease and stroke. The Central Oklahoma Center for Early Detection features a full-service lipid lab overseen by Dr. Susan Dimick, one of only six board-certified lipidologists in the entire state of Oklahoma. Dr. Dimick works with a number of advanced lipid laboratories throughout the country, using lipid profiles to assess cholesterol levels, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein, and low-density lipoprotein. These factors, considered alongside other factors like overall health, age, and family history, can help determine your risk for heart disease and other serious conditions.
The lipid lab is open to all patients on a referral from their physicians, as well as patients already working with Dr. Dimick. Lab visits are $40.00, which covers the phlebotomy staff and advanced lipid testing.
